Six Generations of Tailoring

In the mid 1800’s somewhere in the industrial heartland of the Midlands, my Great Great Great Grandfather opened his first Tailors shop and Robinson Tailors was born.

My Grandad started when he was just a school boy- hand padding canvases for his father to earn pocket money. I was handed the same apprenticeship which gave way to me being accepted at the Savile Row Academy aged just 17.

Being away in London at such a young age had its challenges but when I was offered a full time role, post graduation as a Tailor on Savile Row the journey became my most cherished achievement and I remained working on London’s Savile Row until I turned 22 returning to Warwickshire to continue my passion and focus more on Ladies country wear at The Family business.

From a child sat on my Grandmothers lap at the sewing machine because I couldn’t reach the pedals - I am now delighted to have my own business, JJR Bespoke, something I have aspired to from the beginning. The icing on the cake is being able to remain closely connected to the family business, Robinson Tailors.
